We will depart early from Quito to take the Panamericana north, and after a drive of 1 hour and 30 minutes, we will arrive at the town of Cayambe, where we will have the opportunity to observe how the typical biscuits, which are very famous in this area, are made. We can also taste them with hot chocolate or a cup of coffee.
Continuing our journey in our vehicle, we will reach the largest lake in this area, called San Pablo. We will have a beautiful view of the Imbabura volcano, from which the name of the province where the indigenous community of Otavalo is located derives. We will then continue to the poncho and handicraft market where we will have approximately 2 hours to make our purchases.
Afterwards, we will drive about 30 minutes to reach a viewpoint where we have a restaurant for our lunch and from where we can observe the beautiful Cuicocha Lagoon. In the afternoon, we will return to the town of Cotacachi, a village where handmade and leather crafts are made. We will then return to Quito in approximately 2 hours until we reach our respective hotel.
